Some trivia

An interesting SMS from the other day...
J Chow what's the longest length of track/travel time between two adjacent stations in the main sydney network?

So...two questions:

1. What's the shortest distance between two adjacent stations in the Sydney Suburban Network?
2. What's the longest distance between two adjacent stations in the Sydney Suburban Network?

The Sydney Suburban Network is bounded by Berowra, Emu Plains, Macarthur and Waterfall. Guesses are welcome - I couldn't remember the longest distance and had to look it up!

Tempe - Wolli Creek! :D
(0.468km)

Then follows...
Clyde - Granville
(0.564km)

=O WOAH! THAT IS CORRECT! HIGH DISTINCTION!

The shortest distance is indeed from Tempe to Wolli Creek, and it is 468m! You can actually see Tempe station from Wolli Creek station and vice versa.

The second shortest distance is actually Rosehill to Camellia on the Carlingford Line (it's about 530m)!

Yep, the third shortest is Clyde/Granville. Newtown to Macdonaldtown is shorter (about 620m) than Harris Park to Parramatta (about 680m as you said).

WELL DONE! Now the longest distance...

By the way, how did you know? ;)

Yep - longest is Holsworthy to Glenfield (just over 6km), followed by Heathcote to Waterfall (5.59km)!

Mystery solved!
