A new bus service coming...sometime...!

Connecting Sydney’s East and West…New metrobus coming soon

This is from the Sydney Buses website:

Sydney Buses is introducing a new metrobus service that will run between Kingsford and Leichhardt.

The new service connects Sydney’s inner western and inner eastern suburbs and provides a link to the CBD. The metrobus puts all kinds of popular destinations at easy reach – including Norton Street cafes and cinemas in Leichhardt, Broadway Shopping Centre, Chinatown, Town Hall Station, George Street cinemas, Moore Park, Kensington and Kingsford and much more.

Plus, the metrobus conveniently stops near the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, University of Technology Sydney, Notre Dame University and Sydney TAFE College.

Another benefit for passengers on board the new metrobus service is the many inter-connecting links to rail and other major bus routes to all parts of Sydney.

The metrobus is a PrePay only service, running approximately every ten minutes in peak hour and every fifteen minutes at other times. What’s more, the metrobus service is running in addition to timetabled buses operating on Parramatta Road and Anzac Parade – so you will find a bus in no time!

The new metrobuses will also use the latest environmental technology. All will be equipped with either natural gas or low emission diesel powered engines, so you can rest assured that you will be doing your bit for a cleaner environment.

More information will be available soon.

An interior shot of the bus...this one is a converted bendy bus, but it can fit more people because it's got special standing areas!

sounds ideal, except that they have to compete on roads with other normal buses? so really, it'll just get caught in traffic, have lots of stops, and running every 10 minutes in these conditions really means you'll see 3 come together every 30 minutes and nothing for the next 30 minutes. haha cynical ^^

haha yes that's true...at least the buses will be distinctly recognisable as they're painted red.

i found a picture of the new super-capacity buses. =)

haha i think some of them will be bendy buses and others will be normal buses. they converted 2 existing bendy buses into these red things =P

Hey that sounds convenient....btw, is there a technical name for the 'bendy-bus'? Or is that the offical term? :P
