They managed to add a whole EXTRA level on top of the existing station, AND they did all that while keeping the station fully operational too!

Bahhh if only I were a few years younger...then I could have watched all this during high school!!!

Update on Epping-Chatswood Rail Line

Construction work started on the Epping to Chatswood line in November 2002. At the moment, construction is essentially complete, and the focus is on operational readiness and testing. There are still a few things to do before the line can be opened to the public.

Just this week, the overhead wiring was switched on, and they ran the first electric train through. Here's a picture of the first electric train to ever use the line!

The question everyone is asking is...when is the line going to open to the public? Sources indicate that services will start operating on the weekend of 21-22 February 2009 next year. That's about 8 months behind the original scheduled date. But of course that date is assuming nothing goes pear shaped in the next 9 months, which may well be a possibility...!

EDIT: Here's another picture of the first train - it was a 6 car train...!

Oooooo!

The Glue hoodies have arrived!

They're currently sitting in Glue HQ waiting to be unleashed!

Joey (who actually sits in on most of our Glue leaders' meetings) doesn't know what all the fuss is about. =)

Engrish strikes!

Here's something off the Sydney Buses website! I suppose the ball lanes should be diverting diversion in this case, but Mitchell will be full of areus services. Yep! =)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diversions on Pittwater Road services, delays expected

Due to a fallen power pole in Brookvale on Pittwater Road at Chard Road, ball northbound lanes areus services are closed to traffic. Buses are diverting diversion via Sydenham Rd, Mitchell and then back onto Pittwater Rd.

Delays are expected so please allow extra travelling time when planning your trip.

Unimail: All Students - Examination Changes

Dear Students,

The new academic calendar adopted from 2008 requires a number of changes to the way examinations are conducted. The principal changes are:

- a shorter examination period
- timetabling of examination in 3 exam periods each day
- exams on Saturdays

In order to accommodate the proposed number of exams in a 3 exam per day schedule, exams in June 2008 will be scheduled Monday to Thursday as follows:

Morning 08:45 - 12:00 (3 hour examinations)
Afternoon 13:45 - 16:00 (2 hour examinations)
Evening 17:45 - 20:00 (2 hour examinations)

Examinations on Fridays will be scheduled:

Morning 08:45 - 12:00
Afternoon 13:45 - 16:00

Examinations on Saturdays will be scheduled:

Morning 08:45 - 12:00
Afternoon 13:45 - 17:00

Saturday and evening examinations will be held at Randwick Racecourse; the University is currently negotiating appropriate security and transport options for the safety and convenience of students.

The number of examinations timetabled to occur on a Saturday will be restricted to the minimum necessary to meet Faculty needs; these are likely to be 3 hour examinations. Students who are unable to sit Saturday exams for religious reasons can request alternative arrangements. Students who have employment or sporting commitments on a Saturday can request a statement from UNSW Student Central confirming the student's obligation to attend the scheduled examination.

Please note: Students will NOT be required to sit more than 2 exams each day.

Regards
Professor Joan Cooper
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students) and Registrar
